About Caroline Bass
My educational achievements include a B.S. with honors in psychology from Bradley University in 1973 and a Juris Doctorate from Northern Illinois University in 1986. I teach continuing education courses in domestic matters for lawyers and mediators.
Licensed in my home state of Illinois in 1986, I moved to Santa Fe in 1989 and became licensed in New Mexico that year. My twenty-eight years of experience include prosecuting child sex abuse cases and serving as Domestic Violence Hearing Officer (a quasi-judicial post).
I have extensive experience in children’s court representing parents or children in cases involving Child Protective Services. I’m frequently appointed as a mediator and as a guardian ad litem representing children in highly contentious custody matters. I always take my clients’ children’s best interests to heart.
I take a team approach to my work, including you as an integral member of the decision-making process while advising you all along the way of the potential consequences of each alternative approach.
As a sole practitioner with over 28 years of experience, I provide responsive, compassionate representation during a family’s time of crisis. I offer personal, one-on-one service, unlike larger firms which may assign your case to an attorney with much less experience, or whose main contact may be a paralegal. While I can be aggressive when necessary, I also do whatever can be done to resolve matters amicably. I have excellent courtroom skills, I am trained in alternative dispute resolution techniques including collaborative law, mediation and settlement facilitation, and I am skilled in explaining matters to my clients in everyday language. I will always provide you with straight answers and experienced legal guidance every step of the way.
When you need an experienced, responsive and compassionate family law attorney to help during this most stressful time, call me. I want to help.
